More Trouble For Miami's Collins

Cecil Collins of the Miami Dolphins, awaiting extradition to Louisiana for a probation violation, has been accused of harassing and stalking two more women.

The Davie police department said Tuesday it is investigating the two cases. Fred Haddad, the player's lawyer, said he was unaware of any new investigations.

A violation of probation could result in four years in prison.

Collins agreed to be extradited when he was placed on probation. The waiver was ruled valid last week, and a determination on where Collins will end up must be made by Jan. 7.

Broward County Assistant State Attorney Dan Losey will decide whether the new investigation will lead to additional charges.

Losey is trying to keep Collins in south Florida, where he could stand trial on the burglary charge. If convicted, Collins faces 15 years in prison.

The 23-year-old rookie running back was arrested this month and accused of breaking into the apartment of neighbor Tina Nolte, a 28-year-old married woman he had met in the complex's gym and tried to date.

Miriam Dandeneau, a 25-year-old mother of two boys who also lives in the complex, said she filed a complaint with the office manager about July 19.

John Dandeneau, her husband, said Collins pulled down his swim trunks and exposed himself to his wife within view of two teen-aged girls.

But Davie police would not confirm that Dandeneau's complaint is among those they are investigating.

Miriam Dandeneau's claim resembles Nolte's. Collins allegedly entered the bedroom and awakened her husband, Ronald, who chased the player from the apartment, according to police.

The player was arrested a short time later at a nearby apartment he shares with his pregnant girlfriend and their 3-year-old daughter. He was suspended indefinitely by the Dolphins. He had been sidelined since breaking a leg Nov. 14 against the Buffalo Bills.

During the summer of 1998, Collins was charged twice with unauthorized entry at his apartment complex in Baton Rouge, La. Both cases involved female residents, including a 17-year-old who accused Collins of exposing himself and rubbing against her.
