More Charges For De La Hoya
Former welterweight champion Oscar De La Hoya has been accused of rape again.
His lawyer, Robert Chapman, denies the claims.
The complaint is being investigated, said Officer Charles Rodriguez, a police spokesman. No details were released.
Chapman said the accusations are nothing but an attempt to embarrass De La Hoya because the boxer called police to kick three people out of his house on Sunday. One of the three filed the complaint, the lawyer said in a statement.
"Unfortunately, celebrities are often the subject of these sorts of false stories," he said.
In October, a woman, now 18, claimed the boxer raped her at a hotel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, when she was 15.
De La Hoya has denied the accusation, but he and his brother, Joel, are being sued. The lawsuit seeks monetary damages for rape, false imprisonment, sexual battery and assault.
De La Hoya has lost only once in 32 fights, and 25 of the victories were by knockout. He is scheduled to fight Derrell Coley in a 12-round bout on Feb. 26 in New York.
The boxer is engaged to Shanna Moakler, an actress on the USA Network's "Pacific Blue" series. Their daughter, Atiana Cecilia De La Hoya, was born in March.
De La Hoya, a native of East Los Angeles, also has a 1-year-old son, Jacob, by another woman.
