McCain, Obama Pay Tribute At Ground Zero

From CBS News' John Bentley:

(NEW YORK) – Barack Obama and John McCain put aside politics today to pay tribute to the victims of 9/11 at ground zero.

Obama arrived a few minutes before McCain and was met by Mayor Michael Bloomberg. When John and Cindy McCain arrived, the four walked down the long ramp that leads to the temporary memorial in the center of the World Trade Center's footprint. McCain and Obama walked in front and chatted briefly as they made their way down the ramp.

Along the way, the four were handed flowers from survivors, family members, and first responders. Obama, Bloomberg, and the McCains placed the flowers at the memorial and paused for a moment of silence before heading back up the ramp.

As they parted, McCain and Obama shook hands, and McCain said "see you tonight," a reference to the "Nation of Service" presidential forum being held this evening that both candidates will attend.
