Make Your Employees Safer Behind the Wheel with FleetSafer

If your business employs drivers, you know how important -- no, crucial -- it is for them to drive safely. One unfortunate distraction could lead to an accident, lawsuit, or worse.

Of course, you also know how difficult it can be to enforce safe-driving policies. Enter FleetSafer Mobile, an app-based anti-distraction solution for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile, and, now, Android smartphones.

FleetSafer uses telematics, Bluetooth, or GPS to determine when the user is driving, then triggers a custom set of policies. For example, you can configure the app to automatically reply to incoming calls, e-mails, and/or text messages -- thus removing up to three major sources of distraction.

You can also get more granular, setting up a whitelist so that only, say, business-critical calls come through (or go out). A simple administrative portal lets you or your IT department deploy and manage the software for all users.

If you want to try the FleetSafer Mobile yourself before deploying it, grab the free seven-day trial of MobileSafer, the single-user consumer version of the software. (Alas, as of right now it's available only for BlackBerry.)

I'm a huge fan of solutions like this. Too many drivers either don't understand the risks of cell-phone distractions or just choose to ignore them. With FleetSafer Mobile, you can make sure your drivers don't land you, your company, and themselves in hot water. For pricing info, contact the company.
