Love Letters Returned To Widow, 91

A 91-year-old widow in New York state has regained possession of the love letters her late husband wrote her during World War Two.

And LaVerne Jenkins has a Tennessee woman to thank.

Gail Williamson was browsing inside an antiques store when she stumbled on the letters. Williamson says she was moved by "the sweetness and tenderness of them." So, she says, she wrote down the name and address listed on them.

Williamson says when she went home, she and her husband turned on the computer and found a listing for T. Kayler Jenkins.

LaVerne Jenkins had kept the listing under her husband's name even though he died of cancer in 1973.

Jenkins says she had no idea the letters were missing. She thought they were stored safely in the attic, with the others.

When Williamson sent Jenkins the letters, Jenkins says "it was like Christmas."
