Let Darth Vader Guide You to (the Dark Side of) Your Destination

I realize we're three days away from our usual Casual Fridays posts, but this can't wait. In honor of Star Wars Day (May 4th, as in, "May the fourth be with you"), TomTom just unveiled four Star Wars voices for use with compatible GPS navigators.

As you may know, most TomTom GPS models support the addition of celebrity voices. My personal favorite: Homer Simpson (voiced by the actual actor, Dan Castellaneta).

First up from that galaxy far, far away: the big man himself, Darth Vader. For $12.95, you'll hear gems like, "Depart. Your destiny lies with me. Obi-Wan knew this to be true."

I have more details, but check out the promo video first. It goes on a little too long, but it's still pretty funny.

Cool, right? But was James Earl Jones involved? Doubt it. TomTom makes no mention that the original actors voiced these clips, so I'm 99.8% sure they were done by impersonators. Vader, at least, sounds pretty close, but I have to wonder about the upcoming voices of C-3PO, Yoda, and Han Solo (due in June, July, and August, respectively).

Anyway, if you own a compatible TomTom GPS (or you're in the market for a new navigator) and want to indulge your inner Star Wars geek, I can't think of a better way. May the fourth -- er, Force -- be with us all. [via Gizmodo]
