Kings Place Palffy On IR
The Los Angeles Kings placed right wing Ziggy Palffy on the injured reserve list Friday, but Palffy might play Saturday night in Montreal, a team spokesman said.
Palffy, who has 12 goals and 15 assists in 26 games this season, has missed three games including Friday night's contest in Detroit because of back spasms.
He was placed on the injured reserve list retroactive to Dec. 3, meaning he's eligible to play Saturday.
The Kings acquired Palffy in a trade with the New York Islanders during the offseason. Palffy missed only three games while playing in 331 for the Islanders. If Palffy doesn't join the team for the game in Montreal, it's hoped he'll return to action Tuesday night at New Jersey.
To replace Palffy on their roster, the Kings recalled defenseman Jere Karalahti from Long Beach of the IHL.
