Kevin Federline Keeps It Real
While his soon-to-be ex-wife Britney Spears is out partying without benefit of underwear, Kevin Federline is busy retooling his image into that of a serious, respectable adult.
A spokesman for Federline's divorce attorney, of all people, released a statement detailing an evening out with the aspiring rapper.
According to the statement, Federline dined out with the lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan, at a Beverly Hills Steakhouse on Tuesday — and then had a pleasant chat with the press.
"They were all interested about what Kevin was up to with his career and treated him with much respect," said the spokesman.
Federline told E! News that he wants the public to know that he is a family man, adding "that is me, that is the truth, that is in all honesty, that is what it is."
He also said that he sees himself a year from now "making movies" — presumably legitimate feature films — and that he's very happy and moving forward in his career.
Conservatively dressed in a "fabulous, well-stated sports jacket" and sans the usual gold chains, K-Fed said that he had several career offers on the table.
One of those offers reportedly is a reality show produced by Kenneth Crear, who did "House of Carters" for E!
"Kevin came to me because he liked the way … I made Nick Carter look real and trustworthy," Crear told US Weekly. "I gave people a different perspective of him and made people really respect him."
Crear added that Federline will not "smear" Spears on the show.
Federline's previous foray into reality television was UPN's "Britney and Kevin: Chaotic," which was created from footage taped by him and his wife.
The barely-watchable show was poorly received by both critics and the public.
His lawyer agrees that people don't know the 'real' Kevin Federline.

"Kevin is a good person, and it is unfortunate that people distort the truth without knowing Kevin," Kaplan said. "I believe, if you know Kevin as I do, you would think the world of him."
Federline is asking for full legal and full physical custody of his sons in his divorce from Spears. He has two other young children who live with their mother, Shar Jackson, Federline's ex-girlfriend.
