Jerry Pate joined CBS Sports in 1996 as an analyst for the network's golf coverage.

Pate won eight PGA Tour events and participated in more than 400 professional golf tournaments after becoming a tour member in 1975.

His most significant victory came at the US Open Championship at the Atlanta Athletic Club in 1976, the same year he won Rookie of the Year honors. He also won the 1974 US Amateur Championship and several foreign tournaments.

Pate began his broadcasting career as an on-course analyst for ABC Sports in 1988.

He was born September 16, 1953 in Macon, Georgia.
