Jake Nickell: Proud to Be a Complete Amateur
Jake Nickell is the co-founder of Threadless, a Chicago-based t-shirt company that brings together an online community of nearly one million people who design, vote on, and buy the company's products. Threadless racks up approximately $30 million in revenues.
"I believe the biggest strength I had when starting Threadless was that I was a complete amateur. Being a sophomore in an art school, I knew very little (nothing) about business, e-commerce, t-shirt manufacturing, order fulfillment, etc. This allowed me to approach all of those things with completely fresh eyes. I believe that innovation comes from amateurs... take your ignorance about things and turn it into a strength, a fresh, new way of looking at the way things work!"
