Illness Forces Kylie Reschedule Tour Dates

Kylie Minogue cut short a performance Saturday night on her comeback tour because she was suffering from the flu, her publicist said.

The London-based singer, who underwent treatment for breast cancer in 2005, managed to perform only half of a scheduled 2 1/2-hour concert in Manchester, England, spokesman John Bills said.

"Several members of the crew, the tour manager and Kylie have been suffering from flu — but she didn't want to let anyone down. She wanted to try to get through the show, but had to cut it short," Bills said by telephone from Manchester.

He said Minogue's decision to leave the stage was not related to her recovery from breast cancer, which led to a 1 1/2-year hiatus before she launched her comeback tour in November in Australia.

Minogue, 38, was diagnosed with breast cancer in May 2005. She underwent successful surgery in her hometown of Melbourne, Australia, that month, followed by five months of chemotherapy in Paris.

Two new shows were announced Monday on Minogue's Web site: Sunday, Jan. 21, which replaced Monday, Jan. 15; and Monday, Jan. 22, which replaced Tuesday, Jan. 16.

A message on the Web site Tuesday announced a third and final additional show Jan. 23 for those who attended Saturday night's show, which finished early.

In a message on the site Minogue said, "I would just like to clarify the situation after seeing false reports in today's press claiming that I had ignored doctor's instructions. I have not at any stage ignored the advice of my doctors, in fact I postponed two shows this week on their advice in order to be healthy enough to finish the 'Showgirl Homecoming' tour."
