Hoyer: October, November Sessions Possible
During this afternoon's colloquy between Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) and Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-Mo.), Hoyer told his colleague that a lame duck session was "possible" and floated the date of November 17th for it to begin.
"We are going to come back in October if we have to," he added, rebutting a Bloomberg story that Congress would be adjourning and leaving the financial mess to the White House.
Blunt also asked if the moroatorium on offshore drilling would be included in an upcoming continuing resolution. "There have been no discussions of including that moratoria in the CR," said Hoyer, adding that that doesn't mean it would or wouldn't be included--only that there had been no discussions.
