How to Choose a Cubicle-Friendly Plant
Plants can really liven up a dull desk, to say nothing of giving you cleaner air to breathe. Ah, but what kinds of plants will thrive and survive in an office environment?
Unless you're lucky enough to have a cube near a sun-drenched window, you'll need a shade plant. Over at Lifehacker, Jason Fitzpatrick offers up five plants that are cubicle-friendly, including:
Jade Plant (Carssula ovata): The Jade plant is hardy and long-lived. It may well outlive you: My grandmother has a Jade she's been tending since long before I was born. The leaves are vibrant green and have a shiny, rubbery appearance. It needs to be well-watered, but otherwise is largely hassle-free.(No charge for the editing, Jason ;) Be sure to read the accompanying user comments for lots of other good suggestions, including this list of NASA-approved air-filtering soil and plants. (If they're good enough for the International Space Station, they should be good enough for your office!)
