Horror Movie 'Psycho' Is 40
It was 40 years ago that actress Janet Leigh shocked the world with her scream from the shower.
KCBS-TV in Los Angeles reports that on the anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho, Leigh returned to the infamous Bates motel -- and told reporters she is still afraid of the shower.
The sinister murder mystery movie was a huge commercial success even though most critics didn't like it.
The re-enactment of the blood-curdling shower scene was a promotion of a weekly Hitchcock film series for Universal Studios theme park and American Movie Classics.
The role of Marion was played by Sue Pelinski of Chicago --who won AMC's contest to find the best screamer.
According to Halliwell's Film Guide, Hitchcock used chocolate sauce for blood in the shower scene (it was filmed in black and white).
