Holiday Glamour On A Budget

The holidays are a perfect time to add a little sparkle to your wardrobe. But according to the editors at Glamour magazine, you don't have to spend a million bucks to look like a million. And no one will know but you!

Glamour's executive fashion director, Suze Yalof Schwartz, puts The Early Show anchors to the test: Can they tell which holiday outfits are bargains and which have designer pricetags? Check out how Julie, Harry and Hannah did.

The outfits:

Lace Dress
1 Monique Lhuiller $2,630
2 Rampage $49

Score:
Julie – 1 is discount
Harry – 1 is discount
Hannah – 1 is discount

  • Lace Dresses are HOT this season. They are modern and sexy without being vulgar.
  • This particular dress style shows off curves in a flattering way.
  • The halter-top works on both a big and a small bust.
  • This is perfect for the cocktail party or a date.

Red Chiffon
1 Express $74
2 Westcott $1320

Score:
Julie – 2 is discount
Harry – 2 is discount
Hannah – 1 is discount

  • These outfits represent hot trends combined: chiffon and ruffles.
  • The fabrics of both dresses are feminine and flirty.
  • The Express dress has long sleeves so it's great for the woman who is uncomfortable with her arms because it will conceal them.
  • The Westcott outfit is a one shoulder outfit.
  • Both are great for a black-te event.

Cream Suit
1 Express $244
Pant: $58
Blazer: $118
Underpinning: $68

2 Dolce and Gabana $2,100
Suit: $1,800
Megan Park Underpinning: $300

Score:
Julie – 2 is discount
Harry – 1 is discount
Hannah – 2 is discount

  • Yes we saw the cream suit on mega stars like Madonna, so you know it's hot.
  • Winter white is more cream-colored so you can wear it after Labor Day.
  • This is a perfect day-to-night outfit. You just need to change what you wear underneath.
  • Great for an office party. It doesn't reveal too much and you can easily dress it up with accessories.
  • It's a chic, classic outfit appropriate for those events when you are unsure of what to wear.
