Hitting The Red Carpet With Hef
On Friday, Jay Cambern of Mesa, Ariz., woke up ready to head to his job as a computer programmer.
Cambern stopped in Phoenix, where Dave Price was announcing the next person to accompany him on an "All-Access Pass" weekend. Cambern had written to The Early Show about his ultimate adventure — and, as luck would have it, his name was called.
Cambern was whisked off to Las Vegas to live the "All-Access" life
for a weekend with Price at the Palms Las Vegas Casino Resort.
With their "All-Access" passes in hand, Cambern and were waited on poolside by the executive chef from the N9NE Steakhouse.
"No one gets to have this at our pool here, so this is a very special honor for me to cook for you," said Chef Barry Dakake.
After dining on an incredible spread that featured a two-pound Australian lobster tail, Cambern called the food "incredible."
Cambern also made a lot of new friends, including Hugh Hefner.
"Welcome to Las Vegas, welcome to the Palms and welcome to the Playboy Club," he said.
What would Hef do with an "All-Access" pass?
"I would be hanging out at the Playboy mansion," he said.
Cambern says the most amazing "All-Access" experience he had was walking the red carpet at the opening night of the brand-new Playboy Club — the first to open in more than 20 years.
Robin Leach even offered some advice for Cambern's first time walking the
red carpet. "Lose weight because you'll take up less room," he said.
There were lots of celebrities at the opening, and Price and Cambern came very close to hobnobbing with heiress/actress/singer Paris Hilton.
Price asked, "Paris do you have two seconds to help us on The Early Show?"
Unfortunately, she was about the only thing in Las Vegas they did not have access to. Hilton kept on walking.
The fun continued as Price and Cambern toasted their weekend with the owners of Nove Italiano Restaurant and N9NE Steakhouse and the Playboy Club.
There's the expression that "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas."
The motto at the Palm is a bit different: "What happens at the Palms never happened," said Scott DeGraff, one of the founders/owners of N9NE Group.
Cambern says if you ask anyone who has been on an "All-Access" vacation with Price, they'll tell you it's tough to go home.
"I've had a lot of good days in my life, but this has to be close to being one of the best days of my life if not the best day of my life. Every day after today is gonna be a bad day," he said.
Many people made this trip possible, including The Palms, the N9NE Group, the Maloof brothers, The Playboy Club and the Ted Baker Company for a snazzy wardrobe.
Tell us and if you can be in one of the cities Price is visiting across the country Fridays through Oct. 27, you could be whisked away on an "All-Access" weekend, too. On Friday, Oct. 13, join him in Dallas.
If you can't get to the cities Price is visiting, you can win an amazing "All-Access Pass" weekend by playing at home. Each Tuesday through Oct. 31, we'll ask a question about his past weekend's "All-Access" adventure. Every correct answer enters you for a chance for the ultimate "All-Access" weekend — a trip for two to Super Bowl XLI in South Florida, which airs on CBS on Feb. 4, 2007.
The multiple choice question on Tuesday, Oct. 10 was:
Who wouldn't say hello on the red carpet?
A) Nicole Richie
B) Pia Zadora
C) Paris Hilton
