Hilary Duff: Editor In Chief
Hilary Duff: Editor In Chief
Actress At The Helm Of Seventeen Magazine

Singer-actress Hilary Duff can now add editor to her resume. She tried her hand at magazine editing as a guest editor for Seventeen magazine for three days in June. In addition to holding meetings on fashion, beauty, finance, health and love life, she also opened up about her passions and her relationship with Good Charlotte rocker Joel Madden.
The October issue of Seventeen is on sale now. Here's a peek at what's inside.

On choosing mainstream projects:
"You know what? I'm so fed up with people thinking that anything that's not mainstream is what should be respected. It's like anything that doesn't make money or isn't box office is what's cool and respected now. Give me a break — that's stupid. Sorry, that's the truth."

On being a role model despite tabloid criticism:
"I am who I am, and people can think what they think. I'm successful in what I do, and I hope to grow and do things I haven't done before. But I'm not in this huge rush to become so adult or mature that I'm so far away from what I become. You need room to grow. Taking baby steps into growing up may be a different way than anyone's tried, but it feels right to me."

On compromises in her relationship (with boyfriend Joel Madden):
"I mean, he's been clean for two years, and that's something I deal with. And not because I go out all the time and party — I am so not into that. It's just that it makes him a little bit different. Do you know what I mean? ... I can't say I'm never going to drink for the rest of me life — I wouldn't want to make that decision. He has to — and he's really adjusted."
