Bess the Book Bus, Inc., is a non-profit mobile organization that provides books to underprivileged, inner-city kids.

The effort began in 2002 when Jennifer Frances cashed in her 401K, dreaming of doing something fulfilling with her life. She bought a 1972 Volkswagen bus she named "Bess," and started giving out free books to kids. Since then, Frances and her subsequent "Bess" buses have reached thousands of children across the country.
