Buffalo Sabres goaltender Dominik Hasek, twice a winner of the National Hockey League's Most Valuable Player award, escaped unhurt after his Ferrari skidded off a road east of Prague early on Monday morning.
The Czech daily Pravo reported on Tuesday that Hasek's car slid off at a sharp corner on a rural road near his hometown of Pardubice, some 40 miles east of Prague.
Local police said alcohol was not involved in the accident, which caused some $3,035 of damage to the car, the paper added.
Hasek, who helped the Czech Republic take gold at the Nagano Olympics earlier this year, was at home preparing for the upcoming NHL season.
