Get Your Old Slides and Photos Turned into Hi-Res Digital Images
I've got a shoebox full of photos that sits in my closet. I've got a couple of old slide carousels from presentations I made in the pre-PowerPoint era. Right now, they're just getting dusty, mainly because I can't motivate myself to bother scanning them. That's why I'm severely tempted to send all of them off to a service called ScanCafe that I just read about over at Cool Tools. While it's not the only service that specializes in digitizing photos, it seems to be well regarded. All I have to do is take my negatives and slides down to the post office and ship them off; two months later, I get everything back. The images are put up online; As long as keep more than half of them, I only have to pay for the ones I like ($.19/negative, $.24/slide). It's not fast or particularly cheap, but it seems to my lazy butt that it's definitely worth it.
