Get Your Airport-Security Questions Answered at Evolution of Security

airport-security.jpgEver wonder why you have to take your shoes off for airport security in, say, Ohio, but not in Colorado? Curious why screeners make such a big fuss about liquids? Answers to these and other head-scratchers can be found at Evolution of Security, a new blog sponsored by none other than the TSA.

Don't expect a bunch of formal government agency-speak: This is a blog in the truest sense. The language is conversational and informative, like these responses to questions about banning liquids:

Was this a real threat? Yes, there was a very serious plot to blow up planes using liquid explosives in bombs that would have worked to bring down aircraft.

Why don't you just ban all liquids? Because our National Labs and international allies demonstrated to my satisfaction that there is, in fact, a scientific basis for allowing small amounts of liquids on as carry-on. We try to prohibit the minimum possible from a security standpoint.

The blog is only about a week old, but there's already quite a bit of information to peruse. If you have even the slightest interest in airport security, Evolution of Security definitely merits an addition to your RSS reader. [via InFlightHQ]
