Get Visual Voicemail on Your BlackBerry with YouMail

Visual-voicemail service YouMail just launched a BlackBerry app that brings iPhone-like voice messaging to most BlackBerry models.

In case you're not acquainted with it, visual voicemail (or "VV") rocks. Forget dialing into your voicemail, listening to messages one after another, then trying to remember keypad commands for rewinding, forwarding, deleting, and all that.

With VV, you browse messages right on your cell phone's screen, then choose the one(s) you want to hear. That's essentially what you get from YouMail's Visual Voicemail Plus: The app downloads voicemail messages to your 'Berry, displays the caller's name, number, and time of call, and then lets you play messages in whatever order you want.

You can also leverage YouMail's social-networking capabilities, instantly pushing a voicemail message to, say, your Facebook account. (Word to the wise: Be careful what you say on someone else's voicemail, as you never know when it'll get shared with the world.)

YouMail Visual Voicemail Plus is a free app that's compatible with most BlackBerry models and carriers. Alas, we don't have a BlackBerry here for testing, so if you're able to try the app yourself, hit the Comments and let us know how it went.

As an iPhone user, I know full well the joys of VV. So if you're a BlackBerry user, you will absolutely positively want to give this a try.
