Get Driving Directions from Dial Directions

You already know you can get driving directions on your phone from Google SMS, but now there's an even easier way: Dial Directions. Just dial "DIR-ECT-IONS" (347-328-4667), then say where you are and where you'd like to go. In short order the service will sent you a text message with step-by-step directions. Dial Directions can route you to an address, a business chain (e.g., "the closest Caribou Coffee"), or an event. Standard SMS rates apply, but there's no charge for using the service itself. Alas, for now it's available in just nine metropolitan areas (including L.A., NYC, D.C., and Denver), but they'll be adding more soon. [via jkOnTheRun]
