Fuelish Dreams: Every President Tries to Break U.S. Oil Addiction; Every President Fails

Every president from Richard Nixon to Barack Obama has outlined bold plans to our end our dependence on foreign oil. Four decades of policy and rhetoric gave us more fuel efficient cars and trucks, solar panels, and wind farms, but we're hardly less dependent on foreign oil.

Indeed, our reality is quite the opposite. When Nixon was in office, nearly 36 percent of the oil we consumed was imported. Today, foreign oil accounts for more than 62 percent of our daily consumption.

Check out my latest slideshow Fuelish Dreams: Every President Tries to Break U.S. Oil Addiction; Every President Fails for a closer look at each president's plan to wean us off foreign oil and whether Obama will be the one to succeed.
