Fax for Free

officespacecopier1.jpgAs we've pointed out before, fax machines are going the way of the dodo (and rightly so). But there are still tons of old-school businesses (and government agencies) out there that do some of their business by fax, and that means that you sometimes need to have your own personal fax number. When I last wrote about this, I suggested using MyFax, which is professional looking, and allows you to fax 100 pages (and receive 200) over the internet for only $10. Now, though, I've found something that may be of more benefit for the truly miserly among us.

First, get a free eFax account that gives you your own fax number and allows you to receive faxes for free in your inbox. Then, send whatever faxes you need using the new free app FaxZero; make sure to include your eFax number as part of your sender information.

Surely, it's not perfect--you'll end up getting mortgage spam in your inbox and you can only send faxes up to three pages in length before it starts costing you. But for those of us who use faxes as infrequently as possible, this jury-rigged solution is a free and easy way to send and receive faxes.
