EMILY SENAY

Health and Medical Correspondent, This Morning

Emily Senay, M.D., was named Health and Medical Correspondent for CBS News This Morning in August 1997.

Dr. Senay will continue to practice medicine at the Floating Hospital, a ship docked in New York City that sails every Friday with patients aboard who need medical assistance and education. She has served at the hospital as a general practitioner since 1994, working with underserved women and children in need of medical care.

Previously, Dr. Senay had served as health reporter for Up To The Minute, CBS News' overnight broadcast (1995-97). Her weekly "Prescriptions for Women" reports on Up To The Minute focused on health issues affecting women.

Prior to joining CBS News, Dr. Senay anchored "Medical News Network," (1992-94), where she reported daily news via satellite to physicians. In 1990, she served as a medical editor for "Lifetime Medical Television."

Dr. Senay was born November 11, 1960 in New Haven, Conn. She was graduated from the University of Chicago with a B.A. in biology in 1983 and from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in N.Y., with her M.D. in 1988. Dr. Senay served a resideny in internal medicine at Beth Israel Hospital in New York City. She has published medical articles on topics including cancer and autosuggestive phenomenon. Dr. Senay is licensed in medicine and surgery in New York. She and her husband live with their son in New York City.
