Easy Holiday Settings

Thanksgiving is just around the corner. It is not too late too spice up your holiday table. The folks at Bon Appetit have rounded up their favorite picks for tablecloths, plates, flatware, glasses and centerpieces that are affordable and can be easily incorporated into any holiday setting.

Contributing editor Dede Wilson visits The Saturday Early Show to offer a traditional and a more modern setting and demonstrate how to incorporate new items with the basic ones you already have.

The following are the items featured on the show:

TRADITIONAL

Tablecloth
It has a beautiful shade of green and an intricate double row of hemstitching. It serves as an elegant neutral backdrop for many different styles of dinnerware and makes an excellent choice for all sorts of occasions, from casual buffets to formal dinners. There are napkins to go with it. Price: $102
Availability: Williams-Sonoma

Runner
This runner is embroidered with patterns of oak leaves and acorns. Place it over a solid tablecloth or use it alone to complement a wood tabletop. The embroidery is a trend in table top right now, taking its cues from fashion. The tablecloth and runner creates the look of a rich textured table.

Plates
Most people have white plates so add a woven basket-weave charger to provide more depth. Layering white plates with a natural color and texture adds richness to the table.

Pewter flatware

Glasses
Wilson recommends pairing a clear wine glass with a colored water glass. She suggests a clear wine glass so that you can appreciate the color of the wine. Using a colored water glass is a good opportunity to add color to the table.

"Grande Goblet Amber" Water glass

Centerpiece
Using fruits and vegetables to create a festive centerpiece is a very popular trend right now. The centerpieces should be low enough so they do not interfere with the vision across the table so people can have a conversation in a relaxed manner. Make sure you don't have a scented centerpiece. If you use flowers, the scent should not be too strong or the smell will over power the smell of the food. To create this centerpiece, use yellow and dusty peach roses, white ornamental kale, green grapes, artichokes, camellia leaf, and lemon leaf.

MODERN

Tablecloth
For a modern look add more color. Orange is not necessarily a traditional color for a table cloth, however, it is a fall color so use this color in a modern way.
