Despite Tantrum UNC Guard Will Play
North Carolina guard Shammond Williams will play Saturday against Maryland despite a tantrum in which he stormed off the bench during a game.
Williams went to the locker room after arguing with coach Bill Guthridge during the first half of top-ranked Carolina's victory over Virginia on Wednesday night. He returned to the bench in the second half, but did not play.
Williams has complained in the past that he was being singled out for criticism by Guthridge.
After Guthridge and Williams met Thursday, the coach said any disciplinary action would be handled as an internal team matter.
