Dare To Go Denim

If you think you're seeing a lot more denim these days, you're not imagining things. But, as Early Show co-anchor Rene Syler recently found out, denim is not just for jeans anymore.

If the fashion runways are any indicator, this season, you've got to own a great pair of jeans if you want to be hip. In search of the perfect fit, Rene headed to denim Mecca – the Denim Bar at Barney's – where she was faced with a massive sea of blue…blue jeans, that is.

So many jeans, it's confusing! First of all, what makes a really good-fitting pair of jeans?

First, you have to feel comfortable in them. You have to try them on and see what works for you, because it depends on your height and if you're high-waisted or low-waisted. Right now, it's trendy for women to wear low-riding pants. But just because it's a trend, that does not mean that everyone should wear it. (As Terrence at the Denim Bar says, "A lot of people do. But most people shouldn't.")

So Rene went off to the dressing room, armed with a few of Terrence's suggestions. Some looked good. Others, she wasn't too sure about. But she finally found the perfect pair.

With the perfect jeans in hand, she headed over to Crate and Barrel, where the denim fad also seemed to be catching on. She looked around and saw denim potholders, napkins, and even swatches of denim fabric that you can have your sofa covered in. After all, blue jeans are never going to go out of fashion. They're always going to be around.

A mitt, an apron, your blue jeans? Don't call it overkill; it's an ensemble.

OK. So if all the denim in the world - denim blue jeans, denim apron, the denim potholders, the denim oven mitt - that's just not enough for you, how about denim wallpaper?

And in the never-ending effort to keep the mommy minivan clean, there are denim car seat covers (made by caraccessories.com).

And just so everyone knows who you are, maybe a DENIMGIRL license plate.
