Cops: Pa. politician exchanges gunfire with would-be robbers

HARRISBURG, Pa. - A Pennsylvania state legislator exchanged gunfire with two would-be robbers outside the state's Capitol Tuesday night, police say.

Rep. Marty Flynn and Rep. Ryan Bizzarro were allegedly accosted on their way home by four "thrill-seeking" juveniles who police say had committed a robbery the day before.

In that case, the youths, ages 15 to 17, are being prosecuted as adults. According to CBS affiliate WHP, all four are charged with attempted homicide, conspiracy, robbery, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person and carrying a firearm without a license.

WHP reports that Pennsylvania House Democratic Caucus said that one of the suspects pointed a gun first at Flynn, then at Bizzarro, and demanded their wallets. Neither representative gave any items to the gunman.

Caucus officials said that Flynn was carrying a licensed handgun. WHP reports that he told investigators he fired one shot. WHP reports that one of the suspects also fired a weapon.

No one was injured in the shootout.
