Comics Not Letting Up On Jackson

Late-night TV hosts aren't letting Michael Jackson out of their comic sights, following the pop star's acquittals in his child molestation trial.

Tuesday produced a second straight night of jokes targeting Jackson, and The Early Show gathered some of them for its viewers.

They appear to be getting even sharper than they had been.

On the "Late Show with David Letterman" on CBS, the comedian got roars of laughter from the audience when he said, "Don't kid yourself. Michael is glad the whole thing is over. He says, finally, he can go back to his old life. He just wants to continue living, as he has in the past, as a surgically altered freak."

Jay Leno remarked, "They say, after the jury gave the verdict the other day, Michael Jackson openly wept. That's what they said. He openly wept in court. Hey, I think it's refreshing to finally see a popular male star not afraid to show his feminine side to the public." The lines came on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno," on NBC.

On the same network's "Late Night With Conan O'Brien," the host showed the audience a supposed note from Jackson, reading, "Conan, when I heard your show was 12 years old, I couldn't resist doing it."

Letterman had a question for his audience: "Did you folks watch when they announced the verdicts on Michael Jackson, the 10 counts and that deal? Did you watch it on television? Thirty million people watched. Thirty million people. So now, this is how it works: CBS wants me to move to California and get arrested."

And he had another offering, during his Top Ten list: "The No. 1 sign your neighbor is Batman? He's a recluse in a weird outfit with a young sidekick. Oh, I'm sorry, that's a sign your neighbor is Michael Jackson."
