Chi Chi Rodriguez Hospitalized

Chi Chi Rodriguez is recovering in a Sacramento hospital after undergoing angioplasty on Tuesday, according to a statement from his agent Eric McClenaghan.

The 62-year-old was in Sacramento for this week's Senior Tour event, the Raley's Gold Rush Classic when he experienced what he thought was severe indigestion. Physicians diagnosed the problem as angina and recommended the procedure which McClenaghan said was performed successfully.

According to McClenaghan, Rodriguez will be released from the hospital no later than Thursday and will convalesce at his Naples, Fla home.

As for his return to competition, McClenaghan estimated a two to three week hiatus would be necessary before Rodriguez could return to play.

Rodriguez's last title came at the Burnet Senior Classic in 1993. Known for his elaborate "sword dance" and crowd-pleasing banter, he has 22 Senior Tour victories and has earned more than $7 million.
