Cattle prod used by N.D. man in argument with ex-girlfriend, police say
(CBS/AP) BISMARCK, N.D. - Police say a North Dakota man used a cattle prod to literally shock his ex-girlfriend during an argument.
Police say the victim told officers that 37-year-old Christopher Lee Martin of Bismarck came to her home Sunday and claimed she had stolen $500 from him, and they also argued about a jacket. A criminal complaint says Martin used a cattle prod to shock the woman, leaving marks and causing pain.
Bismarck Police Lt. Mike McMerty said Martin was charged with aggravated assault-domestic violence and a variety of drug offenses, according to the Bismarck Tribune.
Officers said they found a marijuana pipe near the assailant's vehicle, and a search discovered marijuana, methamphetamine and a meth pipe in the vehicle.
The assault charge carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
