Calif. man reportedly found burglar asleep in his bedroom

SANTA ANA, Calif. – Santa Ana authorities say a man was arrested for burglary after he fell asleep on the job, according to CBS Los Angeles.

Police reportedly said the victim woke up in his home on Highland Street and felt something touch his leg, then got up and saw a man he recognized from the neighborhood sleeping at the foot of his bed.

The alleged burglar, identified at Ruben Diego Ortega, reportedly awoke and fled.

The Orange County Register reports the homeowner noticed some of his belongings were missing after the incident and went to Ortega’s home to confront him. The victim reportedly got his cellphones and PlayStation 2 back before calling authorities.

According to CBS Los Angeles, Ortega told police he saw an open window in the neighbor’s house and went inside to see what he could take. He reportedly said he planned to grab something and leave before allegedly falling asleep mid-crime.
