Buzz Briefs: John Lennon, John Cusack

Lennon's Doodles & Drawings On Display

When it comes to members of the Beatles, even doodles are a treasure.

John Lennon's doodles and drawings - some erotic - will be on display at a downtown Manhattan gallery starting Thursday, on what would have been his 68th birthday.

More than 100 Lennon works at the Openhouse Gallery in SoHo form a show called "Imagine Peace."

The SoHo show runs through Sunday.

No Plea Deal For Alleged Cusack Stalker

A woman accused of stalking actor John Cusack will stand trial after a last-minute plea deal fell through late Wednesday afternoon.

Emily Leatherman was moments away from accepting a deal that would have allowed her to avoid state prison. But after she indicated she wasn't entering into the deal freely, a judge rejected the bargain and ordered the 33-year-old woman to stand trial beginning Friday.

Leatherman was facing her first glimpse of freedom since March, when she was arrested outside Cusack's home. She indicated during the hearing that she felt jail was making her sick and that she wanted to leave.

She faces four years in state prison if convicted.

Cusack, star of such films as "Being John Malkovich," "High Fidelity" and "Grace is Gone," is expected to testify during the trial.

Hugh Hefner: Marriage & Babies Not Part Of The Deal

Hugh Hefner is down a girlfriend.

Hefner and Holly Madison, one of E!'s "The Girls Next Door," are no longer dating. Hefner said he's been "down in the dumps" about the split.

The 28-year-old model-actress stars in the reality series with Kendra Wilkinson and Bridget Marquardt as one of the 82-year-old publisher's girlfriends who live with Hefner in the Playboy Mansion.

"If Holly says it's over, I guess it's over," Hefner said in a telephone interview Wednesday. "She's still here in the house. Until a few days ago, we were still sharing the same bed."

Hefner was surprised to hear Madison discussing their breakup, but acknowledged he knew a split was imminent after he told Madison that they would never wed or have children.

Recording Company Sues Lil' Kim In NYC

A recording company has sued Lil' Kim for $2.5 million, saying the Grammy-winning rapper hasn't delivered all the recordings their contract requires.

Brookland Media filed the lawsuit Tuesday in Manhattan's state Supreme Court. Lil' Kim's lawyer, Londell McMillan, says Brookland sued "to leverage their own position" in the contract dispute.

The lawsuit says Brookland contracted with Lil' Kim this year and spent hundreds of thousands of dollars on recordings, equipment and advance payments.

Court papers say the rapper later tried to change the contract and refused to continue recording unless Brookland agreed. The papers say she had recorded only a few tracks toward a new album by the beginning of September.

Brookland wants the court to declare the contract valid and bar Lil' Kim from recording for another company.

McCain Isn't Foo Fighters' "Hero" After All

The Foo Fighters don't want Republican John McCain using their song "My Hero."

The band has asked McCain to stop using the song in his campaign for president. A statement says the saddest part is that the song "was written as a celebration of the common man and his extraordinary potential." It also says the song is being "tarnished" because it's being "used in a manner that perverts the original sentiment of the lyric."

McCain's campaign did not immediately return calls for comment.

John Mellencamp, Heart and Jackson Browne have objected to the McCain campaign using their songs.

Sam Moore of Sam and Dave has objected to Democrat Barack Obama's campaign using "Soul Man."

Will The Show Go On For L.A. Fashion Week?

Smashbox Studios says next week's Los Angeles Fashion Week may be their last.

Smashbox co-founders Dean and Davis Factor said Wednesday that they are parting ways with fashion event organizer IMG after partnering for five years on the event.

Dean Factor says next week's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will be Smashbox's last season with IMG, and there's a "50-50 chance" that they will continue with L.A. Fashion Week. It was unclear whether another group would continue without them.

IMG, which also produces fashion weeks in New York, Miami, London, Moscow, Berlin and other cities, did not immediately comment beyond saying "we are 100 percent focused on the current event."

Dean Factor says Smashbox has not yet legally separated from the partnership, but calls the split mutual. He says Smashbox is working with "high-level people" toward putting on future fashion weeks in L.A.

Lifetime To Tell "The Natalee Holloway Story"

A cable channel is working on a television movie about a teenager from Alabama who went missing in Aruba in 2005 when she was on a graduation trip.

"The Natalee Holloway Story" is going to be based on a book by her mother, Beth Holloway. The Lifetime Movie Network has started preproduction. The movie will focus on the mother's efforts to find out what happened to her daughter.

The 18-year-old girl from Mountain Brook, Ala., was last seen leaving a bar in Aruba with a Dutch college student and two Surinamese brothers. Extensive searches have found no trace of her.

Tanya Lopez, Lifetime's senior vice president for original movies, says in a news release the movie will raise awareness about how to keep children safe.
