Boston: From Blah To Knockout
The Early Show is halfway through our latest week of Mall Makeovers Across America. Mall makeover magician, David Evangelista, headed to Beantown in search of his latest makeover candidate.
As Evangelista strolled through the mall Tuesday morning in search of his latest makeover candidate, 23-year-old Beth Landau stepped out of the Kenneth Cole store where she works, asking Evangelista, "How bad am I?" Although she wasn't bad at all, Evangelista knew he could spice up Landau's rather blah look and make her an absolute knockout. Her manager agreed, and she and the rest of the staff at Kenneth Cole waved her off to her day of head-to-toe makeover.
So it was off to the Grettacole salon at Copley Place where a team of miracle workers awaited Landau and Evangelista's arrival. First, Evangelista decided that it was time to chop off Landau's one-length hair and give her a short, shaggy, sassy 'do. She was game for anything, so out came the scissors and off came at least 5 inches of her hair. Evangelista and the amazing Gretta, owner of the Grettacole salons, thought that Landau would look great with hair color close to Jennifer Aniston's, so Gretta wove 4 different colors of highlights into Landau's virgin hair (that's right, she'd never colored her hair before - "Welcome to the wonderful world of maintenance!" Evangelista proclaimed).
For Landau's makeup, Zoe of Grettacole wanted to give her a sexy, sultry smoky eye and a crimson lip (very in this season). She left Landau's skin very natural, giving her a sheer pink blush just to give her a healthy glow.
Finally, it was off to Neiman Marcus, where Evangelista and a personal shopper picked out a fabulous deep olive green corduroy jacket and skirt with a pale pink shirt by Theory, along with a pair of fishnets (again, very hip this season) and a pair of ankle boots by Anne Klein. Landau, who worked at an architecture firm before quitting and going to work at Kenneth Cole, said she has always wanted to be a buyer for a clothing or shoe company - and with her new look, Evangelista says she'll have no problem getting that dream job of hers.
