Bootcamp: Navigating The 'Net

A new navigation tool for the net.

If you are an experienced surfer on the Internet, you may not need much help finding your way around. But if you wish the chaos in cyberspace was a bit more organized....or if you are new to the net.....a software program called NetClicker can help. Netclicker's Steve Mansfield...says it works with either Internet Explorer or Netscape....

"And when that's up you can bring up NetClicker...and a control panel comes up on your screen that looks and works pretty much exactly like your television remote control. That is...it has an up channel, down channel....favorite channel...picture in picture....volume controls....all the things that you're already familiar with using. But the difference is you're using it with the Internet."

NetClicker organizes sites by subject and assigns channel numbers...and the software is updated automatically....

"As it stands right now, the NetClicker CD comes with over twenty thousand web sites, and that's being updated everyday as new web sites are being added and old web sites are removed. So if you're getting on the Internet...you always have the most up to date version...at any time."

The idea is good. Experienced users may find the remote control a nuisance...but it can easily be turned off. The software sells for under thirty dollars. You can download a free demo from netclicker.com.

Bootcamp may be heard daily on many of the CBS Radio Network Stations.
