Bootcamp
What can you do with your own web site? We've got some good examples.
Anyone can create a site on the Internet. There are lots of places where you can put a homepage up for free and most Internet service providers will give you room with your account. So what should you do with it?
In Rockford, Illinois....Debbie Gregory has created a very personal site for women with breast cancer. It allows women to share their feelings...with others who know what it is like.
In Westfield, New Jersey....an 8 year old named Sam....has created...with help from Mom and Grandma....a site called Sam's Friends. Sam says what he is doing is...
"Raising money for homeless kids."
Sam's mother Christine says her son has raised thousands of dollars...raffling off things like Beanie Babies online...to benefit various charities. Sam's concern comes from seeing people without homes...
"People don't help...and he thinks that's not fair. He says ...how come people just walk past them? And my husband said....Because sometimes there's so many people, Sammy, you feel like you just can't help. He said...But all you have to help is one at a time."
Sam has different awards on his site for people who organize efforts in their own neighborhoods to collect food or clothing or books.
Bootcamp may be heard daily on many CBS Radio Network stations.
