Bomb Kills 4 People at Sufi Shrine in Pakistan

A police officer says a bomb planted on a motorcycle exploded at the gate of a famous Sufi Muslim shrine in central Pakistan, killing at least four people.

Mohammad Kashif says at least three others were wounded early Monday morning by the blast at the Farid Shakal Ganj shrine in Pak Pattan district of Punjab province.

The explosion occurred during morning prayers at the shrine.

Pakistani Sufi sites have frequently been the target of Islamist militant groups, whose hardline interpretations of the religion leave no room for the more mystical Sufi practices that are common in this Sunni Muslim-majority nation of 175 million.
