Bob's Blog: C.I.A. Torture Report

(CBS News) - Sunday on Face the Nation, we'll take a look at the bombshell Senate Intelligence Committee report on CIA interrogation techniques. The findings of the report released Tuesday suggest enhanced interrogation techniques used by the C.I.A. in the aftermath of the attacks on 9/11 were more shocking than previously reported and produced far less actionable intelligence than had been previously reported.

We'll dig into the details of the controversial report with two key members of the committee that conducted the investigation: Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., who serves as Vice Chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, and Sen. Angus King, I-Maine. We'll also hear from Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Rep. Mike Rogers, R-Mich. What's next for the C.I.A.? Who's to blame for all of this?

Sen. John Mccain, R-Ariz., will also be with us to discuss the findings. In a floor speech Tuesday, the former prisoner-of-war called waterboarding an "exquisite form of torture." Did the use of these so-called enhanced interrogation techniques harm U.S. interests around the world? And how has the intelligence community been affected by the report?

Finally, for analysis on the news of the week, we'll turn to Peggy Noonan of the Wall Street Journal, who is now a CBS News contributor, Michael Gerson of the Washington Post, Charles Ellison of The Root, and Mark Mazzetti of The New York Times. There's a lot to discuss Sunday. Hope you'll join us.
