Bette Midler doesn’t understand why there’s no “Hocus Pocus” sequel

In case Disney executives were at all confused, Bette Midler is totally on board for a “Hocus Pocus” sequel.

The actress and singer didn’t hold back when discussing the 23-year-old Halloween-themed flick, which has developed something of a cult following among millennials.

For the life of me, I can’t understand why there’s not a sequel,” Midler told Billboard when the topic of the film came up.

“You don’t get to see women doing slapstick too much, and in the movie you can see that we’re having a blast,” she said. “All the shackles were off, as Donald Trump likes to say, and we were allowed to be as wild as we wanted to be. It was a perfect storm of fun.”

Talk of a sequel to the 1993 film has come up before, with Midler and co-stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Kathy Najimy all expressing interest in the idea. A year ago, Midler joked that a planned sequel was delayed because Disney was “having trouble finding a virgin,” a reference to the film’s plot.

Midler feels very strongly about the idea of revisiting the film, apparently. She even dressed up as her “Hocus Pocus” character for the New York Restoration Project’s 2016 Hulaween Party this weekend -- to the delight of the film’s fans across the internet.
