Fashion consultant Alison Deyette shared this year's fashion "must haves" with This Morning as several kids modeled the trends from Rye Middle School and Rye High School in Rye, N.Y.

For kids, it's all about the layered look. Make sure they can take off or put on clothing to stay comfortable, warm and dry, says Deyette.

Store windows from the Gap to Old Navy are showing vests; the trend stretches from puffy to fleece, she notes. Dark denim is still in - coupled with embroidery on the cuff, she says.

For high schoolers, the look is loose and layered, and comfortable: parachute pants for guys, and the skant, a combination of skirt and pants, for girls.

Messenger returns
Jess' outfit from American Eagle Outfitters includes a long-sleeved tee over a short-sleeved tee. The messenger bag returns.

	Hat happy Swan wears a bucket hat, a striped long-sleeved top, a fleeced vest with a hood and dark denim jeans.
	Safe packing Marc John sports a clear backpack, which is now required by some schools for safety reasons.
	Fringe is in Ally's Western look comes straight from the runways. Her skirt is from Guess; the matching fringe shirt and boots are from Durango.
	Keeping cozy Chelsea wears a plaid field coat with a big turtleneck and a suede mini skirt. The outfit is from DKNY Kids.
	Fall colors Cheyne wears a bright orange long-sleeved tank and tee, an ergonomic backpack, a plaid mini skirt and trendy boots.
