Baathists Join Forces With Al Qaeda in Iraq?

The head of the security committee at Diyala city council Saji Qaduri told al Hayat newspaper that Saddamʼs Baath Party is building a strong presence in Diyala following reports of its merger with al Qaeda in Iraq and the Islamic State of Iraq.

Meanwhile, Diyalaʼs Police Chief General Abdel Mohasen al Shemari said he received intelligence indicating that Saddamʼs fugitive deputy Izzet Ibrahim al Douri, may be present in al Khales area, in northeastern Baaqubah.
