Ashlee Simpson Comes Out Swinging

The Showbuzz's Judy Faber researched and wrote this story.

Ashlee Simpson puts up a fight in the video for her brand-new single, "Invisible." The song, written by Simpson and produced by Ron Fair, does not appear on her most recent album, 2005's "I Am Me."

"Invisible" is a guitar driven mid-tempo rock song about dealing with phony people. In her best tough chick voice, Simpson defiantly sings: "You're the one who looked right through me/Now you're saying that you knew me/When I was invisible."

Simpson stepped into a boxing ring recently to film scenes for the video, which she said is inspired by the Oscar-winning film "Million Dollar Baby." The video and an accompanying episode of "Making of the Video" will premiere June 19 on MTV.

Luckily, Simpson's opponent in the video didn't land any punches to what appears to be a newly slimmed-down nose.

When Simpson was asked by The Associated Press recently if rumors about her undergoing cosmetic surgery were true, she simply giggled and said, "Maybe — who knows!"

The singer kicked off a U.S. tour last week; it wraps on July 29 at the DTE Energy Music Theater in Clarkston, Mich. She probably won't be lonely on the road because her boyfriend, Braxton Olita, is a member of her band.

Simpson's first album, "Autobiography," was released in 2004 and sold 3 million copies. Her second offering, "I Am Me," debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 1 in October.
