Apps that eat your wireless data
(CBS/CNET/AP) - Now that few cell phone carriers offer "all-you-can-eat" data plans, users have to make decisions on how they will use their bandwidth.

Here are some suggestions on the kinds of online activities that can eat up a huge chunk of your monthly data budget.
One of the top offenders: streaming video and videoconferencing. A single minute of YouTube quality video will set you back two megabytes. If you are on a plan that offers 200 megabytes per month, that kind of activity will add up quickly.
Streaming audio will also take a chunk out of your plan - mainly because those who do that will listen to music for more than a few minutes at a time.
For digital shutterbugs, sending - and viewing photos - can use up huge chunks of data - as will navigation apps.
Verizon is rolling out data plans that include monthly usage caps. The plans will see users pay between $30 and $80 a month for plans that range from 2 to 10 gigabytes of data usage. If you go over your monthly allotment, you'll be hit with a $10 surcharge for each additional gigabyte.
Verizon joins AT&T in offering capped data plans. According to CNET, Verizon says the new plans will apply both to new customers and existing customers who are upgrading to a smartphone.
