Apple iPad Mini event: What to expect

Apple is gearing up for an event this week and the tech giant is widely expected to announce a smaller tablet computer, dubbed the iPad Mini, and a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display. But could there be more?

Apple's event will be held at the California Theater in San Jose, Calif. on Tuesday at 10 a.m. PT. There will be no live video of the event, but anxious fans can follow CNET's live blog.

Rumors that Apple will introduce an iPad Mini are at fever pitch. The smaller, cheaper tablet is expected to have a 7.85-inch display, front- and rear-facing camera and a price tag ranging from about $250 to $300. If the iPad Mini is unveiled on Tuesday, it could hit store shelves on Nov. 2.

Apple may also introduce a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display, according to reports by CNET and AppleInsider. Currently, the MacBook Pro with Retina Display comes in a 15-inch model for $2,199. It's been rumored that the smaller laptop will start at about $1,699.

The Mac Mini and iMac may also get updates on Oct. 23, 9to5Mac reports. Both lines would get likely get hardware and software updates.
