Airplane Crashes after Crocodile Causes Panic
A plane crash during a flight in the Democratic Republic of Congo was caused when a crocodile escaped from a sports bag and caused a stampede in the cabin, throwing the aircraft off balance, reports the Telegraph online.
The flight's only survivor told investigators of the incident. According to the Telegraph, the Dutch pilot, Danny Philemotte, struggled with the plane's controls but could not right the aircraft.
The crocodile survived, only to be killed later by a machete.
The plane was on a routine flight from the capital, Kinshasa, to the regional airport at Bandundu on August 25. It crashed into a house close to the plane's destination. No one at the house was hurt because they were outside during the incident.
