A Bee That Attracts Kids

The finals of the National Spelling Bee were held last week. That's a contest for kids up through eighth grade to see how well they can spell. To win, you've got to spell words most grownups don't know.

This year's final word was 'chiaroscurist.'

The word means a certain kind of painter. The kid who spelled it correctly is 12-year-old Jody-Anne Maxwell, from Jamaica.

She's the first person from outside the U.S. to win the National Spelling Bee.
