(CBS News) Ever wondered how safe your valuables will be in that hotel safe?
Not very, according to CBS News travel editor Peter Greenberg. He said on "CBS This Morning," "Under innkeeper laws in the United States in every single state, they're not liable for anything lost in those hotel room safes, so why would you even put it in there?" he said. "The point is, they're a joke."
In addition to safes, Greenberg also discussed the importance of keeping your trash free of personal information, how to store your credit cards safely, and ways to ensure your personal safety in hotel corridors.
