Seaquarium Returns Rehabbed Turtles To The Wild

MIAMI (CBSMiami) - Five juvenile green sea turtles who have spent the last month or so in rehab at the Miami Seaquarium have been returned to the wild.

The turtles, between two and five years old, were rescued near the Dania Beach and Deerfield Beach fishing piers over the last month or so.

Park workers rescued Presley in April. He underwent surgery to remove hooks from his mouth and his esophagus. After the surgery he gained weight and clocked in at a healthy 14 pounds for his release.

In May and June, Springsteen and Clapton were taken to the Seaquarium to have hooks removed from their bodies. They weigh 13.7 pounds and 6.6 pounds respectively on their release.

All three were set free at Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park on Key Biscayne to the cheers of excited beachgoers.

Trisha, who was very lethargic when she was found, was nursed back to health and was released up in Boca Raton.

Jagger, who suffered a boat strike and entanglement, was released at Sebastian Inlet State Park in Melbourne Beach.
